Yesterday, it felt oddly like a Sunday, so I was so excited to think that it was only Friday, meaning that I have two more days until the week starts!
This week was busy, but good. My brother and sister-in-law are in from North Carolina. They came over last Saturday, and had pizza with us and we just chatted and caught up with each other. It was a good time.
Earlier in the day, Buddy had a hockey scrimmage. After his first 3 goals, I stopped counting. Apparently he didn’t, because afterward, he told me, “Mom! I scored 13 goals!” Way to go Buddy!!
On Sunday, my sister-in-law and I snuck out for a little bit while Jdaddy took the boys skating. It was Buster’s first time out and he was so excited. My sister-in-law and I went to lunch and did a little shopping. It was nice to get away for a bit.
Monday through Wednesday went by pretty quickly, especially considering it was a holiday week. Normally, those weeks drag.
Buddy had a follow-up with the urologist regarding his hydrocele on Wednesday. Good news! It’s shrunk enough where we don’t need to do anything about it right now. He has a recheck in August and we’ll see how it is then.
We traveled to my middle brother’s house on Thanksgiving. The drive is just over 2 hours, and the kids did pretty good. However, shortly after leaving the house, I was starting to feel like a flight attendant with all the kids’ demands for this and that. I have a feeling our drive to North Carolina next month is going to be interesting.
Dinner was fabulous. My sister-in-law is a Home Ec teacher, so she went all out with all the homemade stuff. We had a roasted turkey, a fried turkey, and beer can chicken. It was food overload…but soooo tasty.
After dinner, we all went over to the hotel my parents were staying at and went swimming. That was fun, even though I wasn’t in the mood to swim. The kids had a blast. And were exhausted. They fell asleep very quickly after we got back to my brother’s house.
Jdaddy ruined his surprise Christmas present by being all picky about what he was getting. I had to divulge I was getting him a PlayStation 3. My plan was to stay up until midnight and order it from Walmart.com because they had the best “bundle”. Well, it didn’t go on sale at midnight. So then I found something that said it would go on sale at 3 a.m., so we all went to bed. Buster had me up multiple times, crying, and coughing. He finally ended up in the room with us and slept better after that. At 3 a.m., I got up and waited for the PS3 to go on sale. No such luck. So then, I again set the alarm for 5 a.m. and got up then. Of course, even though the ad gave me a link saying “buy now”, when I clicked on it, the bundle wasn’t available online. So I just went back to bed. When I finally got up around 9, Jdaddy said it was still on sale, so he ordered it for himself. I’m so glad we don’t really care about surprises at our age.
We left my brother’s house for home yesterday afternoon and basically did nothing all day.
Buster has an atrocious cough, but is otherwise okay. I keep waiting for a fever, but we’ve been lucky so far. *fingers crossed*
Not much planned this weekend, other than some laundry and cleaning. Such an exciting life.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and have a great weekend!
